Massage was good. Could have been more pressure and attention to the places my husband and I put as a concern. The place was pretty run down inside there were holes in the walls and it was all pretty dusty. Jacuzzi wasn’t warm even when we tried to add more hot water. We were told we were given a «discounted» rate, since I called asking about the Groupon, of $ 155 on a $ 245 service. In my opinion, this service was NOT worth $ 245. We have had the same service, with champagne and strawberries, at a very reputable Spa, multiple time, for $ 160. On top of that, at check out, we were told there was a MANDATORY 1824% tip off of the FULL value, not what we paid!!! Since when is a tip required? Not trying to low ball, I always tip, I’ve worked as a cosmetologist for years, I know how this works. But, a tip should be gratuity left for all you felt the service and overall experience. We gave the most we were going to give for a tip (which was only $ 3 less than the minimum anyways) and the lady proceeded to take out a calculator and make sure we have enough!!! When she realized we shorted them all we got was «I guess that’s fine». Not even a thank you or anything; they were very adamant that the tip was required. I definitely did not feel a $ 50+ tip was earned, but no choice was given on our opinion. And it was very unprofessional. Will not be returning.

Okay so I went here the other day for a few hours of relaxation. I asked for a Swedish message and a basic facial. The message was pretty rough even after I asked multiple times for lighter pressure. The facial was also very rough and it seemed like she was in a rush. The check out process was a cluster. You know what. I had to do 3 transactions because they kept charging me the wrong price.
I won’t be visiting this place again and would not recommend to friends or family.

Was an excellent massage. First time going and was not only very relaxing but also fun. During the massage, Ms. Phyllis made sure that I was comfortable and also that I was educated on the type of massage that I had purchased. I went by myself and it was not very expensive at all for the hour massage. The location was larger than I had expected and she also gave me a tour of the building, so that I could see what else was available. I was fearful of the hot stone portion, but it was applied with care and felt delightful. Excellent and inexpensive way to de-stress before finals. Glad I went. Appointment is needed.

Went April 8th 2015 with my best friend for her birthday! We purchased the «BFF PACKAGE». Our experience was great. The staff was extremely friendly. We were a little late to our appointment bc we were not familiar with the area, Mrs. Phillis called us and helped us navigate to get there. The massages were AMAZING!!! Sooo relaxing!!! The massage therapists definitely knew what they were doing. Unfortunately I can’t remember their names :-(Mrs Phillis gave a great facial, and her body scrub left our skin feeling so silky soft. The Mimosas are virgin, which we didn’t mind bc we had been drinking all vacation. Lol. We will definitely go back when we are back in town! They do ask you what percentage tip you would like to leave like the other reviews say… but after a massage and experience like that, why wouldn’t you want to leave a 18%-20% or more tip!!! The only thing I would recommend is that they get more hypoallergenic products (my BFF has allergies). But they definitely made sure none of their products contained anything she was allergic to. Also I’m sure if you state your allergies at the time of scheduling the appointment they will be able to tend to your needs. THANK YOU MRS. PHILLIS AND STAFF FOR GIVING US A MUCH NEEDED RELAXING DAY AT BEAUTY ESSENTIALS!!! Hope we see you soon!!!

After several voicemails, I was finally able to speak to a very rude manager. She stated she was the manager and not the owner. The customer service was horrible via phone call, she was rushing me off the phone and refused to answer any questions I had about the service I’m interested in. I told her that she was acting very unprofessional, and I did not wish to do business with them. This «manager» had no respect for me as a customer she simply stated «that’s fine» in meaning she didn’t care for the business. DO NOT BOOK HERE EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND GHETTO!

Was gifted a couples massage, Jacuzzi «love cave» experience with mimosas and chocolate covered strawberries. First, I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment so my expectations were high. Surely with a wait that long, the masseuse must be skilled, right? WRONG! We arrived exactly 9 minutes late due to a wreck on the interstate that couldn’t be avoided. They informed us upon arrival that our massage would be cut short 25 minutes! I asked if they could just skip the Jacuzzi part so that we could get the full hour for the massage. The answer was a firm no, they don’t operate like that. I was disappointed but agreeable. We got our massages, which were mediocre, at best. I usually get so relaxed I drool while on the table. This masseuse wasn’t even in that league. I was thinking to myself I couldn’t believe I waited 6 weeks for this. Also, there is a sign on the door that said walk ins are welcome! This was my husband’s first massage ever and he said it was nothing like what he was expecting and a huge let down. After our massages, they brought us robes. We were in the process of getting our stuff together to go to the Jacuzzi and the owner came bursting in, being very loud and obnoxious and very much in our way as we were moving around in a very cramped space. At one point, she even bumped into me so hard I dropped everything in my hands. By the time we got to the Jacuzzi, we were frustrated to say the least. Turns out their «jacuzzi», is nothing more than a bath tub with jets in it. We had to sit on top of each other to fit! PLUS, the water was cool, not even lukewarm! We should have just left but we were really trying to enjoy our day… Sigh. The final nail in the coffin for this place is when we were leaving from our «gift» the owner refused our $ 50 tip. She informed us that was not enough! She said the very least she would accept is $ 80, but if we were decent people, we would leave over $ 100! I thought we were being very generous by leaving $ 50 considering the service we had received. I told her those very words and she became irate and used curse words and gestures which were threatening. While she ranted about undeserving white people I pulled my husband out the door and we left. She then proceeded to call my phone and leave harassing messages on my voice mail. I have NEVER in my life experienced such horrendous customer service, especially coming from the owner! I don’t usually write reviews but people need to know about this place. If my review saves one person from going through what we did it will be worth it.

People go to massage places to relax and unwind… Don’t even waist your time. They would not honor the perfectly good Groupon I purchased. I was told to ask Groupon for a refund and that they were only using Groupon for advertising and that the price has gone up. Wow! And no word on the phone about the mandatory 18%-20% gratuity they tact on to the bill. She actually wanted me to pay over the phone right then without even speaking to Groupon about the situation. Like I’m gonna give this lady an additional amount on top of paying for the Groupon too. This is extremely bad business. To add this place should be checked out with health department from the pictures and reviews I’ve seen here.

I would highly recommend. Came here for a couples massage and would go again no doubt. The staff was very nice and professional, also gave us a tour. The owner is very sweet and has such positive energy.

My wife and I came here as an anniversary present. The place is very old looking. We were told that the business has been there since 1998 and it looked that way on the inside. The service we received was great. Ms. Phyllis was very nice and the two massage therapists were great! Unfortunately the rooms were not up to par. There was clear tape on the light fixture and peeling paint on the walls. We were also told that we had to pay an 18 to 25% gratuity which is the usual «offering» not a mandatory fee. We ended up paying $ 47 for the group on and $ 51 for the tip. In my opinion $ 98 was worth the visit. We were told the value was 245, definitely not worth it!!! The service was good but the location is not somewhere I would visit again. Please see the pictures for the peeling paint and tape on the light fixtures.

My massage therapist was Phyllis who was also the owner. Today, I went in for a custom massage that soothes muscles with flowing Swedish and deep-tissue strokes, upper-leg and lower-back stretches, warm towels, and hot stones. Although the nearby area was pretty congested wall to wall sops/retailers, I had no problems finding the place. We had played a little phone tag before making the appointment but the staff always followed up until the appointment was made. They’ve been in the same location since 1998 as a salon and they added a spa next door. Although the building was a bit old and décor wasn’t what you associate a modern day spa… the warm welcome, professionalism and down-to-earth personality of the owner uplifted the spa atmosphere. Once you enter the massage room, lay on their «heated» (felt soooo good) massage table, you start to escape and that’s what a day spa is supposed to do. She’s the first therapist that put a hot towel rolled into a pillow after she had worked on my neck/head. That felt really nice! I was surprised how big the spa was — a few couples /bff rooms, foot massage room, a jacuzzi tub… so they have a lot of spa options. Check them out if you’re in the area. Just a no frills, fancy day spa but they your body feeling relaxed.

Absolutely loved my experience here! My masseuse Bridgett was amazing! She really worked all the tension and knots out of me. I’ve received massages from other spas but this is definitely one of the better ones in my opinion. I highly recommend this place for couples or even a solo massage. I will definitely be returning for another massage soon.

This was a groupon appt. About the only positives were that 1) the appt was arranged on fairly short notice (56 days in advance) and 2) the staff seemed friendly enough. The negatives? This place offers a $ 40 hr massage, the groupon I purchased was for $ 49, my daughter who used it says a young man was the masseuse and he was VERY inexperienced and seemed nervous about the whole thing. It was not only not a special massage but we paid an extra $ 9 over their regular rate for it. I have some doubts that the masseuse was even licensed from what she tells me about his behavior. The place looks like it’s seen better days which I’m willing to overlook for an inexpensive service but at least provide the customer with a sense of comfort and welcoming attitude. When we arrived it seemed like the staff wasn’t quite ready for us. I got the ‘spa pedicure’ and in both services was required to add an 18% gratuity whether I liked it or not. The options were 18% or 25%. The towels used looked quite old, and the magazines near the pedicure seats dated to 2012! LOL.

It was extremely challenging to get an appointment so we ended up changing our schedules completely. Manager also said no Saturdays at all for this deal. The massage personnel also did not seem to have training as they would keep trying to help each other during the massage on what to do next. One worker actually sniffled and coughed the entire massage. At the end, they ring you up and actually require a 30 percent gratuity with no option even if unsatisfied. I do not recommend this to anyone and wish I had not wasted the money with two of these purchases. Thank you, Tommy

If zero was an option if choose zero. They tack on extra charges that were not agreed upon to try to make up for the money they lose on Groupon. New flash… Stop Selling Groupons! Worst service ever. You scam people. I doubt half of your technicians are licensed. And it’s tacky to demand gratuity. Of course I tip but you don’t demand it. If the service is awful it reflects in the gratuity. You don’t get to do an awful job and demand 25%.

I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER recommend this place to anyone. What should have been a relaxing experience for my mother (she just turned 54) turned to a sour experience. While on the way to this establishment I got lost I tried calling to get help with reaching there but no one answered. My GPS wasn’t working, I kept losing signal so we unfortunately arrived late. When we got there Jade informed us that my mom could only utilize the remaining 30 mins. I explained our dilemma and how I tried to call. I accepted responsibility and I asked if there was any thing she could do. She informed me that we could reschedule my mother to next Tuesday because they are usually slow on this day. She didn’t have the scheduling book because the owner was not around and that she would call us the following day to confirm a mutual time. She NEVER called me back to schedule this. My card was charged and when I tried to come to a compromise with the owner Phyllis she told me to take it up with my bank. This is after I called them NUMEROUS times trying to get in touch with someone. She was extremely RUDE and had an ATTITUDE. This was a HORRIBLE customer service experience. Do yourself a favor and deal with a professional Salon that cares about the clients. Hopefully one that answers the phone as well.(This was through Groupon)

Massage was actually decent but the place is almost run down and older and the price is entirely too expensive. Me and my wife got a couples massage with a groupon and still ended up paying more than we would at a 5 star spa. Along with being told we HAVE to pay an 18% — 25% gratuity. And they also only had one female and male massage therapists. I Definitely will be getting a massage at the mansion on forsythe on river street from now on. WILL NOT EVER BE RETURNING.

My husband and I bought Groupons for massages at Beauty Essentials. I believe this «spa» had been open for a few months. #1 — getting an appointment was an issue. If you sell Groupons, have the manpower to fulfill the Groupons bought. We understand how Groupons work. Lots of people try to get in before they expire. We were included in that category with this Groupon. If you offer to schedule an appointment after the expiration date, than you have to set an appointment. #2 — When giving a massage be professional. My husband ended up going in for his sports massage. The towel (only a towel, no sheet) fell off, exposing him, and the employee just left it. After a few minutes she put it back on. Then the employee’s hand was going under the towel… uncomfortably. #3 — If an appointment is booked and you don’t have enough people to cover the appointment, call and tell the client. I showed up, ready for my massage, after waiting about 1015 mins in the front an employee came out and «tried» to help me reschedule. I left the «spa» not able to re-book. By this time, I was fine was that.
We ended up contacting Groupon, just to let them know about our experience. Didn’t get any money back. So, Your Welcome, Beauty Essentials.
From our experience, don’t waste your time and money. I see some good reviews on here now. I hope Beauty Essentials has become for professional.

I was recommended to Beauty Essentials Day Spa by a friend and was so glad I took the opportunity to visit!
My boyfriend and I went for a couples massage and were fortunate to have the dynamic massage team of Mike and Jade. They made certain we were comfortable, that the air in the room was the proper temperature, and provided our stressed and fatigued bodies with a much needed therapeutic massage. We were both extremely pleased with the service.
From the exterior — it would be easy to drive by and not know this was a great place for some relaxation. Inside — the warmth of the owner and her well trained staff make it a little surprising oasis! I was also so warmed to hear of the services they provide during the holiday season to a local women’s shelter. After hearing of it I read this article online:
surely warms the heart!
Thank you Beauty Essentials for a great experience! You made us feel at home and quite pampered!

Okay, so don’t wait until the last minute to find a massage in Savannah. This place was the ONLY place that had an appointment available at 5 on a Saturday evening. Now I know why.
I am not even sure if the woman who gave my fiancé a massage was licensed. (He regularly gets massages and says that this is an experience that he had never had prior.)
She was very personable and nice however, he booked a regular Swedish massage that was supposed to only be $ 40. So, he gets in there and she takes a hot stone and rubs it onto his back (which is NOT how hot stone massages usually work — they are placed onto the back) and she asked him if he wanted her to be gentle. and he told her no, that she couldn’t hurt him.
All in all he said the whole time he couldn’t wait for the massage to be over throughout the service.
He gets done and she says it’s going to be $ 75! YES, $ 75! Umm no, it was supposed to be $ 40. He asked her why and she said because I did deep tissue and hot stone and he said well I didn’t ask for that and she said well you didn’t tell me to stop. Are you kidding me? What about communication? You should inform your customer when you are going to do something or are already doing something that will make the price higher than you were originally told.
The place is a SCAM. Not competent, not reliable, not courteous, lack of communication, and no credibility! Next, I am going to call the board and see if the woman is even licensed.
Beware!
